That’s what the BJL HR Assistant GPT was designed to do.
The Problem
At Bobby Jones Links, we already have great systems in place.
We have our HR policies, onboarding docs, and reporting procedures.
The information is there — but finding the right piece fast can be another story.
If someone wanted to check on time-off policies, report an incident, or ask about unemployment paperwork, they often had to dig through multiple folders or send an email and wait.
That’s not laziness — that’s just friction.
What I Built
I created the BJL HR Assistant GPT as a quiet support tool for our team.
All the materials came directly from Bobby Jones Links — the employee handbook, incident report procedures, HR workflows, and unemployment resources.
Everything inside the GPT is based only on those official documents.
But here’s the difference:
Instead of just storing files, the GPT understands them.
It can answer quick questions like:
“Where do I find the incident report form?”
“How do I submit for unemployment?”
“What is the dress code for seasonal staff?”
And if someone asks a question that falls outside the scope of the provided information, the GPT doesn’t guess.
It says:
“This might be something HR should handle directly. Here’s a draft email you can send.”
Why It Works
I didn’t build it to replace anyone.
I built it to support the people already doing great work.
Knowing the handbook is one thing.
Navigating it quickly under pressure is another.
This tool makes that easier.
It’s like having an HR reference desk that’s open 24/7 — fast, accurate, and never tired.
What It Taught Me
AI doesn’t have to be loud or flashy to be useful.
Sometimes, the most helpful tools are the ones no one notices — until they save you time.
Small, specific GPTs can quietly solve big problems.
And in a busy environment, that’s the kind of help that makes a real difference.
