About MyJLStory: Golf, Food, and Life Connected

When people ask me what MyJLStory is about, the easiest answer is this: it’s a collection of the lessons and stories that shaped me. From my years grinding on the mini-tours, to the kitchens where I first learned to cook, to the golf clubs and businesses I’ve managed along the way — this blog is where it all comes together.

On the surface, golf, food, and life might look like different worlds. But for me, they’ve always been connected.

Golf taught me patience. It showed me what it means to stay steady through frustration, to trust the work I’ve put in, and to find joy in small improvements. Cooking taught me rhythm and creativity — the ability to take simple ingredients and make something greater than the sum of its parts. Leadership taught me to listen. To build systems that help others thrive. To recognize that the work isn’t just about results, but about people.

This blog is personal. It isn’t just swing tips, recipes, or management tactics. It’s about the journey behind them. It’s about the nights I sat with a beer after a tough round, the first time I saw Italian cooking done right, the challenges of leading a golf staff through a busy season, and the conversations I’ve had with my kids about luck, persistence, and growth.

The truth is, improvement doesn’t start with speed. It starts with awareness. Whether you’re shaping a golf swing, seasoning a brisket, or learning to lead a team, the first step is always the same: notice what’s happening, pay attention, and grow from there.

That’s the spirit behind MyJLStory.

I started this space as a way to pass lessons down to my children — Jou and Leia — but I hope the stories connect with you as well. If you’ve ever felt the sting of a bad shot, the joy of a perfect meal, or the challenge of guiding others, I think you’ll find something familiar here.

Welcome to MyJLStory. I’m glad you’re here.
